EXHAUSTION will present research results at a high-level meeting for policy makers in Brussels on 15 November 2023. The conference will provide inputs to shape the final version of a White paper from the project.
The transdisciplinary conference on Connecting Health and Climate Change brings together researchers, experts, policy makers, and NGO and private sector representatives, from all career stages. It provides an arena to present research findings and discuss climate change effects on health, adaptation, societal consequences, and opportunities for climate resilient development.
Heat stress events are increasing due to climate change, particularly in urban areas. Factors like population densities and the urban heat island effect contribute to intensified heat exposure. This session shares European research experiences, case studies, and methodologies to understand heat stress risks and develop mitigation strategies, with audience interaction and collaborative problem-solving.
Cities play an important role in our economy and society, but are also particularly susceptible to the impacts of climate change, such as extreme heat. However, there are specific policies that can be put in place to reduce these impacts and make cities more livable. This session will highlight some of these measures.
Santé publique France and IANPHI (The International Association of National Public Health Institutes) organise a day of discussion devoted to climate change and public health.
The EXHAUSTION team is inviting stakeholders to presentations and a roundtable discussion focusing on updates from research on air pollution and wildland fire emission projections, and state of the art from studies on temperature and health effects in short- and long-term.
